Directions:
- Use Open Office Calc to create the spreadsheet
- Change the orientation of your page to landscape (Format > Page, Sheet tab)
- Click in cell A1 and type "My Million Dollar Shopping Spree"
- Change the width of the column to fit all of the text
- Click and drag from cell A1 to cell G1 and merge the cells. Center the title. Change the font size to 16 and bold.
- Immediately save as "Million Dollar Spreadsheet" in your spreadsheet folder.
- Click on the column header for column B to highlight the entire column.
- Choose Format Cells. Click on the Numbers tab. Choose Currency under category.
- In the Format section, choose the 2nd in the list. Your column will now be formatted as currency automatically.
- Do the same thing for Column C.
- In cell A4, type the word Item
- In cell B4, type the word Price
- In cell C4, type the word Remaining Amount
- Click on Row 4 and bold the column headings.
- Go to cell A26 and type TOTAL
- In A27 type Budget
- In A28 type Amount left
- In A29 type Average cost
- In B26 type the formula that calculates the sum of cells B5 through B24
- In B27 type 1000000
- In B28 type the formula that subtracts cell B27 from B26.
- In B29 type the formula to calculate the average of cells B5 through B24
- In C5 type =sum(1000000-b5)
- In C6 type =sum(c5-b6)
- Press the ENTER key
- With your mouse, right click on C6 on click copy
- Highlight column C, rows 7 through 24. Right click on the highlighted cells and click Paste.
- Fill in column A, rows 5 through 24 with items you want to buy. Put the price of the item in the column next to the item. Make sure you spend exactly $1,000,000
- Go to Edit > Headers and Footers to create a header. Left header: Your Name, Center header: ________'s Million Dollar Shopping Spree; Right header: Date
- Save as Million Dollar Spreadsheet in your MP3 folder.
